Artist Spotlight: Colton Powers
Colton Powers is a Tennessee-born bluegrass banjo player and vocalist whose hard-driving picking, tenor voice, and energetic stage presence have made him a familiar part of the East Tennessee bluegrass scene. After developing his musicianship through East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass, Old-Time and Roots Music program, Colton spent roughly seven and a half years performing across the U.S. and internationally. He is now a founding member of The Bays Mountain Cut-Ups, blending traditional and original bluegrass with tight harmonies, strong musicianship, and a lively performance style. In 2026, the group signed with Sound Biscuit Records and released its first label single, “1916.” You can hear him regularly at The Holler: Ole Smoky Distillery
Band Spotlight: Zink Country
Zink Country is built around father-and-son musicians Corey and Mason Zink. They blend traditional country, bluegrass roots, strong family harmony, and a sound shaped by artists like George Jones, Merle Haggard, Randy Travis, and George Strait. Corey Zink brings decades of experience across bluegrass and classic country, while Mason continues the family tradition as a fourth-generation musician. Together, they perform regularly throughout East Tennessee and bluegrass festivals beyond the region. Locally in Gatlinburg you can regularly find them at venues including Ole Red, The Holler - Ole Smoky Distillery, Smoky Mountain Brewery, , and the rooftop at Jason Aldean’s. Their music keeps classic country traditions present while still feeling current and distinctly their own.
Venue Spotlight: The Holler- Ole Smoky Distillery
The Holler at Ole Smoky Distillery is one of Gatlinburg’s most distinctive gathering places, built around an enormous range of moonshine flavors and the chance to sample them in one setting. Visitors can taste through a wide variety of traditional, fruit, dessert, seasonal, and specialty moonshines, which makes the tasting itself a major part of the experience rather than just an add-on. The retail side extends that further with shelves of jars, gift sets, shirts, hats, glassware, and other Ole Smoky merchandise. Meanwhile, the open-air layout, rocking chairs, wood, barrels, and steady Parkway foot traffic give the space its relaxed mountain character.
Music is central to The Holler’s identity, with the stage regularly featuring bluegrass, country, and roots musicians throughout the week. Current performers include Monroeville, Zink Country, Colton Powers, Soul Gravy, and Big Creek Bluegrass, giving visitors the chance to hear both established regional musicians and artists who have become part of Gatlinburg’s ongoing music scene. The Holler has also played an important role in the development of musicians who built their careers through repeated performances there, most notably the Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, who formed in 2014 while working as the house band at Ole Smoky before going on to national recognition. Combined with the moonshine tastings, rocking chairs, retail, and constant Parkway activity, the music helps make The Holler one of the places where Gatlinburg’s tourism and living musical culture genuinely meet.
